Democrat City Treasurer Kathy Sheehan wins the race to replace longtime Albany incumbent Mayor Jerry Jennings, filling a post that has been occupied for two decades.

Sheehan defeated Republican Jesse Calhoun, Green Party candidate Theresa Portelli and Conservative Joseph Sullivan in a landslide.

With Sheehan's victory, Albany will get its first new mayor in 20 years and its first female mayor.  Sheehan is a former corporate lawyer who became treasurer in 2010.

Jennings was the third elected mayor since 1941.
