Surveillance equipment at the Bethlehem Transfer Station paid off with two arrests, according to town police. It was installed after scrap metal, refrigerators and air conditioners kept disappearing from the town’s transfer station. So Friday morning around 1:00 a.m., suspects were seen on the town’s fenced-in property on Rupert Road in Selkirk. Police found a pick-up truck loaded with stolen material leaving the landfill.
Matthew Knefley, 30, of Ravena Road and Gerald Weidman III, 33, of Columbus Circle and both of Selkirk, are charged with trespassing and larceny. Both were ticketed and released, police said. They are due back in court on Feb. 4.
