NBPA VP Roger Mason Jr. joined Jay Mohr Sports on Wednesday coming off the lifetime ban announcement by NBA Commissioner Adam Silver for L.A. Clippers owner Donald Sterling and said that the players want Sterling out now.
Mohr: “Are L.A. players going to be sitting around a month from now getting antsy because Donald Sterling hasn’t sold the Clippers yet?”
Mason Jr.: "Absolutely. We want action immediately. We don’t know exactly what that means so we will be in touch with the league. I had a player tell me, ‘As long as Sterling is signing his check’s, he is going to have an issue with it. I don’t think we are really going to be satisfied until there is a change in ownership.”
Mohr: “The story was that all six playoff teams, if Adam Silver did not do the lifetime ban, were at tip going to simply walk-off the court. Was this actually going to happen?”
Mason Jr.: “Yeah, if Adam Silver came on T.V. and gave him (Sterling) an indefinite suspension or did anything less than what he did, the players were coming together and they weren’t going to play in these playoff games.”
