Acting Commissioner Amanda Hiller emphasized the importance of utilizing these resources to ensure a smooth filing process. Taxpayers can find answers to common questions and other guidance on the department's website.
For those unable to file by the deadline, an automatic extension can be requested, providing more time to prepare and file returns. However, it is crucial to note that an extension does not extend the time to pay any taxes owed. Taxpayers are encouraged to pay what they can by the deadline to minimize penalties and interest.
Additionally, taxpayers can track their refund status using the Check Your Refund application on the department's website. This tool offers the fastest way to know when to expect refunds.
