Fans of the Tri-City ValleyCats will have to wait another day to see their team take the field, as the home opener against the Brockton Rox has been postponed due to weather conditions. The game, originally scheduled for Friday (May 9), will now take place on Saturday (May 10) at 6:30 p.m. at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium in Troy. The evening will feature postgame fireworks and a magnet schedule giveaway for fans.

According to ValleyCats manager Greg Tagert, the decision to postpone was made to ensure a better experience for both fans and players. "The last thing we want to do is have the experience not be great for the fans," Tagert said. Tri-City general manager Matt Callahan confirmed the postponement on Thursday, citing the rainy forecast.

Tickets for the postponed game can be redeemed for any 2025 ValleyCats home game, subject to availability. Fans with questions or concerns are encouraged to contact the ValleyCats box office at 518-629-CATS (2287). The postponed game will be made up with a doubleheader when the Rox return to Troy from June 13 to 15.

The ValleyCats are part of the Frontier League, and their home opener is a highly anticipated event for local baseball fans. Despite the delay, the team is looking forward to starting the season strong on Saturday.
