"Here’s where we are, and already we’re seeing numbers thrown around, 55, $60 Million, whether this is from Brock Purdy’s camp, whether this is what it’s gonna take to sign him, but now the Brockalyps is here, $55-60 Million for Brock Purdy, and I’ll be the first guy to tell ya, I don’t pay him that. I don’t, It’s difficult because the 49ers are sorta stuck because, yeah, they’ve been living the last few years with Purdy on his rookie deal, it’s a bad rookie deal, being Mr. Irrelevant, but they were able to go all in, they went all in for the Super Bowl, what happened? Didn’t happen, so they had to jettison a lot of contracts, and now, what are you gonna do when you’re paying Brock Purdy right?”
Mike Harmon
"Brock Purdy had the 2023 season, he was still top 10 in terms of quarterback rating...you had a crumbled offensive line, you had a bad receiving core and you’re missing McCaffrey and a bunch of your defenders...and Brock Purdy still completed 66% of his pass attempts to guys that were coming off of you know being shot or were youngsters like Jennings I think there’s still upside for him you know in the short run does he get $60 Million dollars no, but if that’s the market that’s the market."
Jason Smith and Mike Harmon discuss what the 49ers should do with Brock Purdy and if he’s worth $60M a year. The 49ers have to make a tough decision after having the luxury of paying other players with Purdy on a rookie contract the last few years.
